Website reaches second anniversary

posted 19 Apr 2013, 15:26 by Ben MacKinnon

Yesterday marked the second anniversary for the website. We are delighted that it has been such a success, and thank all those who have helped contribute to it. When the site was started out, it was as much an experiment as anything, but it has proved to be a great source to our many visitors, and it is clear that our visitors enjoy coming back time and time again, with over 50% of the site views coming from returning visitors.

This past year saw the launch of the Facebook page and Twitter accounts, which have not only been a success themselves, but have provided another avenue for viewers to reach the site. Over the past 12 months, nearly 50% of our referral traffic has come from Facebook in one form or another, whereas Twitter has allowed us wider spread interaction with sources such as the Scottish Amateur Football Forum.

While the overall visit count is down this year compared to last, this can be attributed to the club not partaking in the Scottish Amateur Cup last season. In the previous year, the site saw it's busiest period in it's short history during the cup run. Numbers of unique visitors and new visitors are well up on the other hand. The biggest difference in numbers this year however, is the amount of users visiting from mobile devices, up by 200% over last year.

I've attached some files to this page for those who are interested in the numbers.

With the backing of the club and players, we are dedicated to bringing you all the Sleat & Strath news we can, through Facebook, Twitter and of course the website. The sites domain has been renewed for another two years, and we are constantly looking for ways we can improve it. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to Contact Us.
