Portree Humbled

Portree turned up to Kinloch on Saturday with a look of confidence. It was their first game of the season and they must have expected to be fitter and more prepared. Their confidence was probably increased when SaS started with only 10 men, as DL gambled to wait on star striker Gordy, returning from visiting his girlfriend in Raigmore Hospital, and didn't put on a sub in his place. This only lasted for 10 mins as Gordy turned up and got himself kitted and in the game. The lack of a warm up showed however as he blazed an early chance over the bar when you would have expected him to score.
In the first half it was Connaire who looked most likely to break the Portree defence with a few great runs. However with a solid defence at both ends the first half ended 0-0.
Portree took a suprise lead with arguably their only real chance of the game.Jammie Gannon grabbed the goal for Portree, however he later twisted awkwardly in a fall and could be out for the remainder of the season.
Sleat and Strath wasted no time in answering. Connaire Yoxon with a fine goal only 4 minutes after going down 1-0. Connaire then set up Gordy with a cross from the right that the striker put away with a neat finish.
Not to be outdone by his younger brother, Ben Yoxon turned up his game after spending most of his time nullifying Portree danger man, Crick. Ben ventured forward and got on the end of 2 balls with unstoppable volleys and Sleat saw out the rest of the game to pick up the 4-1 win.
