Fosters Scottish Amateur Cup 3rd Round Draw

The draw for the Fosters Scottish Amateur Cup 3rd Round took place at Hampden Stadium earlier today and we were in attendance. Sleat and Strath had travelled across country to Aberdeen to play Westhill, who they beat 3-2 to progress, and were hoping for a home draw this time.

The draw got underway, and with 256 teams in the pot Sleat and Strath could have faced opposition from anywhere in Scotland. Team after team was pulled out of the hat, with no sign of Sleat and Straths number (23) being called. Everytime an Aberdeenshire team was pulled out they seemed to be getting the home draws, the team announcer even remarked that "there will be no pitches left in Aberdeen."

Finally number 23 was called and we didn't have to look far for the opposition team, number 22 right above us on the listing. But unfortunately it was an away tie and Sleat and Strath will travel back towards Aberdeen again as they are set to face Feughside AFC who play their home games in the small village of Finzean around 7 miles south west of Banchory.

What we know of Feughsides standings is that they play in the division below Westhill (2nd North) in the AAFA and have won 5 and drawn 1 in the league so far (they also beat Bucksburn United who have since withdrawn from the league). They have scored an average of almost 4 goals a game and conceded only 9 in the league (4 at home). Their cup run has been mixed fortune, going out in the first round of the AFC Trophy, progressing in the Castle Rovers Cup (equivalent to League Cup) and most recently going out in the 2nd round of the Dickie Trophy after extra time. As for the Scottish Amateur Cup, they drew 3-3 away at Torphins before beating them 6-4 at home in the reply to progress to this stage.
