Sleat & Strath faced Portree Juniors in Kyleakin on Saturday for the final of the Ewen MacRae Cup. Portree Juniors have been on good form all season, so it was no wonder that it was a tight affair. Sleat & Strath played well in the first half and while comfortable in defence, never really threatened in attack. The sides went in level at half time and second have began in much the same fashion as the first.

Portree Juniors got the breakthrough and it was a poor goal for Sleat & Strath to concede, letting the smallest player on the park have a free header in the six yard box. Sleat & Strath kept their heads in the game though and were able to get it back to 1 - 1, Gordy MacCarroll yet again being the first to react in the box and poking one home. The game continued in a standoff state and looked to be going all the way to penalties when Juniors striker Murphy, who had harried the defence all game, popped up with a fine header to give them a 2 - 1 lead with only a few minutes left on the clock. Sleat & Strath went on the full attack until the end of the game but were unable to find an equaliser.

Our congratulations to Portree Juniors on winning the cup.
